SHARP CIRCLE
Sharp Circle investigates the dialogue between opposing geometric forces, bringing together the precision of angular forms and the continuity of the circle within a single, unified composition. Concentric rings, intersecting diamonds, and repeating triangular structures converge around a densely patterned center, creating an image that is at once architectural and meditative. Rather than allowing one geometry to dominate the other, the work presents sharpness and curvature as complementary expressions of the same visual language.
The composition is organized around a central axis that draws the viewer inward before expanding outward through successive layers of symmetry. Each geometric element reinforces the next, producing a rhythm of repetition that suggests movement despite the work's structural stillness. The contrast between solid black forms and open negative space heightens this sense of balance, encouraging prolonged observation as hidden relationships emerge throughout the design.
Like much of Sims' work, Sharp Circle explores themes of interconnectedness, transformation, and contemplation through abstraction rather than representation. Its carefully ordered geometry reflects the artist's ongoing interest in sacred proportion, symbolic structure, and the ways in which complex forms can evoke both intellectual curiosity and quiet reflection. The result is a composition that functions as both an ornamental study and an invitation to consider the harmony that exists between seemingly opposite forms.
